U. now had the opportunity to rebuild and start again because if truth be told the great Busby teams had aged and were ready to be reborn. Tommy was a great player for us, but ironic they talk about the 65 Cup final. Smith didn't break anyone's collar bone, unlike Leeds Collins who busted Gerry Byrne's in the first 10 minutes. Gerry played the rest of the game (no subs allowed) with a broken collar bone AND contributed to the winning goal. THAT'S a hard man. RIP Tom & Gerry :)
