Paul McGrath in Ian Rush words
Paul McGrath according to Ian Rush his most difficult opponent. The United defender kept the ex-big mustachioed liverpool striker 15 games without scoring, quite a feat considering how prolific Rush used to be. What would've been of mcgrath if he had stayed healthy for most of his career?

The Doc was sacked for being in love, how unromantic from the board! but seriously as much as we United fans love him, he behaved like a bastard in this, and apparently, other instances Im posting this whole program of 7 moments that shooked United in several parts, perhaps 4 or 5, we'll see. Perhaps I'll even think outside the box and post it in.. 7 parts. Just doing some brainstorming. If you...

Pay attention to the beginning of the scene, how Kelly passes several kids playing on her way to her fiancee's house. The scene is well set for what will be a terrible discovery, in a very well-directed sequence by fuller. In fact, IMO, is the best thing by far about this movie, too melodramatic for the most part.

Glenn Ford 1968 western directed by Jerry Thorpe. Ive never seen buzzards used in such a way in a western, very menacing! If you've seen this film drop me a few lines to give your opinion. Ford was IMO one of the few hollywood actors who rarely chose a bad western. More Info: www.imdb.com/title/tt0062865/

Miss Hunter loves Clive you can see that when he hugs her ,and she closes her eyes, and looking at him as she is standing next to Theo saying goodbye . Miss Kerr is so brilliant at those little looks that say so much .

Just shows that sometimes a big club getting relegated isn't necessarily as bad as it first seems. Man. U. now had the opportunity to rebuild and start again because if truth be told the great Busby teams had aged and were ready to be reborn. We also saw this with a Spurs relegation in 1977 and their subsequent successes in the early 80s.

more aggressive than hard, i suspect he wdnt have been particularly hard in a one to one fair fight, his style was attacking out of the blue, punching to the back of the head etc. basically a lowlife tosser

Tommy was a great player for us, but ironic they talk about the 65 Cup final. Smith didn't break anyone's collar bone, unlike Leeds Collins who busted Gerry Byrne's in the first 10 minutes. Gerry played the rest of the game (no subs allowed) with a broken collar bone AND contributed to the winning goal. THAT'S a hard man. RIP Tom & Gerry :)

With Robson England battered France, arguably the best team at that tournament, at the start of the 1982 World Cup. Then he got a nasty shoulder injury and we stank thereafter. The French midfield of Platini, Giresse and Tigana received high praise from all quarters and rightly so, but they had no answer to Bryan Robson.

Looking back now, 1977 was the end of an era. It became clear Leeds were a spent force; United sacked the Doc; Liverpool won the European Cup to show finally that someone else (as well as United) could do it; Keegan left England; and Clough got back to the First Division.

  • @HandleGF

Eight of the team relegated in 1973-74 were still in the team when United were Double contenders until the last few games in 1975-76. In those seasons the defence conceded 48 and 42 goals respectively. United went down in 1974 cos they couldn't score in a proverbial.

A great shame and agonising to think of what United might've become had Docherty kept his cock in his pants. But they had to sack him. If he'd had an affair with a woman unconnected with the club then fair enough - not a football matter. But it was the physio's wife. And Laurie Brown was an employee. They could hardly sack Brown. But to have kept the Doc would've created all kinds of rifts behind the scenes.

  • @christophersharpe5222

Doubt the doc would have won the league, forest were fantastic in the 77/78 season and Liverpool's 78/79 were one of the best in league history.

Mick Hartford Duncan Ferguson. Yes you may not fully catch this and You might not respect this . Ronnie Whelan was every bit as hard as any of those but it was his humble persona that fooled many. Souey said Whelan was hard as the next to look at him you didn't picture he be tougher than the look.

Tommy actually played 639 times for us in all competitions. Tommy's treatment in his later years by the govt. is another in the long list of reasons why Liverpool fans hate the 'establishment'. Whilst suffering from Arthritis, plastic knees, elbows and hip; combating the early stages of dementia - Tommy took a penalty kick for charity at the half time break during the FA cup final between us and Utd. The result of which the bloody Govt. stopped his disability allowance!
